The Oklahoma Derby is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually in mid-October at Remington Park located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Open to three-year-olds, the Grade III stakes is set at a distance of miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt. The Derby currently offers a purse of $400,000. From 1989 through 1996, it was raced at a distance of miles (8.5 furlongs). Originally named the Remington Park Derby, in 2001 the race was renamed the Oklahoma Derby. It is the track's flagship event and the most lucrative Thoroughbred race at Remington Park. Other big races at the track include the Oklahoma Classics, the Springboard Mile, and the Heritage Place Futurity. ==Records== Speed record: * 1:48.00 - Classic Cat (1998) (new stakes and track record) Most wins by a trainer: * 3 - Donnie Von Hemel (1989, 1991, 2007) Most wins by an owner: * No owner has won this race more than once.
